World of Whimsy
Ruth grew up in a small town in England, where each morning on her walk to school she passed a little sweet shop with jars of candy glowing in the window. Other children would rush inside, pennies clutched tight, but Ruth, poor and without a mother, would simply wait outside. The shop owner noticed her quiet visits, and now and then, when no one was looking, he would slip her a single sugar mouse with a wink and a smile. It was a small kindness that she would never forget.
